As always, it features tons of amazing products . . . and a few very weird ones. Here are some of the strangest gadgets unveiled so far:
1. A Robot Vacuum That Picks Up Dirty SocksThink Roomba, but with an arm on top to pick up stuff you left on the floor.
A company called Roborock made it. It’s just a prototype, so no pricing yet, but expect it to cost north of $1,000. It can pick up small items weighing less than 11 ounces. Here’s a video. Spoiler: it’s not great at it.
2. Electric RollerbladesThese rollerblades let you wear the battery around your waist like a belt and control the speed with a remote.
They can hit a top speed of 18 miles per hour. For $800, you can relive the ‘90s . . . and risk breaking a hip without breaking a sweat.
3. An Electric Salt SpoonThis gadget, available in Japan since last year, sends a weak electric current to your tongue to make food taste saltier than it really is.
It costs $125 in Japan but isn’t available in the U.S. yet. Here’s a video. Pro tip: the way you hold it could use a design tweak.
4. A Table with Working LegsCalled the Mi-Mo, it looks like a small side table with a Pixar-lamp vibe. It walks around and functions as an A.I. robot you can talk to—while also looking like furniture.
The concept feels a little confusing, but it’s definitely a head-turner.
5. A Stringless GuitarThis gadget is like an adult version of those push-button toy guitars for kids.
For $500, you can feel like you’re playing guitar—without actually playing guitar. Here’s a video. Spoiler: it’s so lame. Just get a karaoke machine.
6. A Tiny Robot That Blows on Your DrinkMeet the FuFu: a tiny cat-like robot that hangs on the side of your mug to cool down your coffee or soup.
It’s expected to go on sale in Japan later this year for around $25.
